It’s the middle of summer in New Zealand, which means that fishing is on fire just about anywhere you go! You can go after a slew of species in the nearshore waters or target Marlin offshore, whatever you fancy is game.

This is probably the best time to go after your own Grander Marlin! You’ll have to dedicate a whole day to chasing these monsters, but once you hook it, every minute of waiting will be worth it.

Summer fishing is still going strong, so hit the water and get your share of excellent action by going after Pink Snapper, Kingfish, and Trevally, just to name a few. Marlin are still out there, but further offshore.

The weather is slowly changing, but that’s not enough to dishearten avid anglers on the waters of the bay. There’s plenty of Gulf Harbour fishing charters going out, targeting anything from Hapuka and John Dory to Gurnard and Sharks.

It’s becoming colder and many anglers are making the most out of the remaining good fishing days. You can still go after a variety of species, including Snapper, Hapuka, John Dory, and many more.

The ocean in the winter isn’t very forgiving, but the gulf can still offer some decent action. Choose a good, calm day to head out and target Kingfish. They aren’t that common a catch in the winter, but you can hook a real lunker if luck is on your side.

Most anglers and skippers are taking a well-deserved rest over July and August. On some days, you can still go fishing for nearshore species like Tarakihi, Kahawai, and John Dory. From time to time, you might stumble upon a good-sized Kingfish.

If you’re looking for a change of pace, the Lobster season officially opens in August, so September is a great time to catch yourself a royal meal.

Fishing around Gulf Harbour and in Hauraki Bay is getting better and busier every day. Spring is a wonderful time to enjoy the weather, stunning vistas, and excellent fishing for Snapper, Gurnard, Trevally, John Dory, and of course, Kingfish.
