Enjoy southern Florida's mild winters on a January fishing trip in Fort Myers. Look for Trout and Redfish on the open flats and backcountry. Stone Crab season opens, inviting Tripletail around the marker buoys for a great light tackle fight.

Trout fishing remains very good, with Snook becoming more active towards the end of the month. The local reefs are home to tasty Sheepshead, giant Black Drum, and Gator Trout.

March in Fort Myers is a transitional month. Cobia start to appear around the local reefs, Permit can be found, and Red Grouper are caught offshore. Watch out for Spring Break crowds and windy weather.

April sees the gradual beginning of the Tarpon season, as the Silver King starts to move to the back bays and Fort Myers Beach. There is great topwater action on the flats and backcountry, with Gag Grouper, Cobia, and Permit nearshore.

If you are fishing in the morning, especially in March, make sure to dress appropriately (pants, jacket, etc). We used a waterproof case for our phones so we could take videos and pics quickly and didn't have to worry about getting phone wet. And most importantly, Jack knows what he is doing so just relax and enjoy the fishing time!

Bucket Mouth Fishing Charters

The Snook were a little tougher to find since they were just starting to move into the coves. Perfect time for Sea Trout though, they were really high quality fish and we caught one after another, 22-23 inchers were common. Next time I may wait until the Snook season opens in March and maybe the Red Fish will be moved in a little more by that time. But, I would do this trip over again in a heartbeat, weather was perfect and we found fish everywhere the dolphins were not!

This was a great first trip out for kids fishing on the ocean my boys are 8 and 10 and loved it. Our guide Dalton did a wonderful job explaining to them and guiding them in technique and educating them as well. They each caught over 12 fish (24 total) in less than 2 hours and different kinds of fish. They were very happy and excited to move onto some bigger fish next time we charter a boat. Glad we started with this one geared towards beginners and kids: Dalton was great!!

My brother-in-law and I brought 4 boys out under the age of 11. Jack was an awesome guide - he kept us fishing the entire time…baiting, casting, fixing snags, etc. Everyone in our group caught multiple fish and had a great time. I took 2 boys ages 13 & 14 on this trip. We had a blast together with Fabian. We had plenty of action catching fish early and then went after bigger fish and also had luck! To top the trip off we got to hand feed humongous tarpon at the docks! Great boat, equipment and company by Fabian. Highly recommended and we will be back again.
