Cortez fishing charters are the most convenient way to sample the very best of Florida fishing. As one of the oldest fishing communities not just in Florida, but across the States, this place is known for providing anglers with ample opportunities. One could spend days discovering new local honey holes without even scratching the surface!

Inshore excursions near the mouth of the Manatee River will typically put you on Snook, Speckled Trout, Redfish, and Black Drum. Head to the bays and you’ll be in slightly deeper water, allowing you to go after Spanish Mackerel, Mangrove Snapper, and even Kingfish. Finally, if you go all the way out to the Gulf, you’ll be rewarded with trophies like Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, and even Wahoo.

The local inshore waters are a good starting point for novice anglers. A half day trip will allow you to see plenty of action on a good day.. Extend your trip by a couple of hours and you can go exploring the town’s bays. Lastly, if you’re going trophy hunting offshore, you’ll want to book nothing shorter than a full day.

In Cortez, there are marinas, piers, and docks all over the place. However, the town’s western shore is where most fishing boats are found. If you're doing a near shore trip, definitely do the 6 hour trip. I'm glad we did. With the travel time to the fishing spots that were 7-10 miles out, 4 hours wouldn't have been enough.

Captain Terry provided us with a fantastic day on the water! Fishing was pretty good and we received great service. Terry is super knowledgeable about the fish and plant species native to the area which made the trip all the more interesting. This was our second trip with Captain Eric and it was magnificent! Everyone in our group (ages ranging from 10 to late 40s) caught a variety of sizable fish. The Captain filleted our catch allowing us to enjoy our bounty at home with family. Highly recommend!

Went out for a half day. Capt. terry found the fish. Multiple species despite wind and temps not cooperating the best. Was able to take some meat home for the table. Will recommend him and also hire his charter again my next time down in Longboat Key.

Had a fun day on the water, winds settled down so we could get out. Captain Terry keeps a great eye on the weather and tides. We caught some nice sheepshead which were stacked under some canal docks. Caught speckled sea trout too. Terry is knowledgeable and explains things well as to what we are going to try! Good trip, had dinner all together afterwards,(even Terry's wife) with the fish we caught! Good time, nice people!!
