In fact, the town was the first to really take advantage of its fishing tourism potential back in the ‘80s, and it’s no wonder why!

Just a few miles from shore, you’ll find three kinds of Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and many more big game prizes. However, within spitting distance from land, you’ll also be able to take on some real beauties. Roosterfish and Snook are the trophies for catch-and-release anglers, while Snappers and Triggerfish will provide for a tasty treat after your trip.

The beauty of fishing here is that everything can be done in just a few hours when the summer season hits. However, if you want to go after the biggest of the offshore beasts, you’ll want to dedicate a full day to reach the deep waters. Beginners and families are more suited to shorter trips, with pros being able to enjoy anything from a few hours to a few days of fishing.

Tamarindo’s fishing marina is smaller than some of the other, larger towns on the Pacific Coast, but that actually gives you an advantage. Charters aren’t as expensive as elsewhere, but, of course, the longer you want to spend on the water, the more you’ll have to pay.

Be ready for anything with the ocean. It started with choppy waters, went calm for half the trip and stirred up to bigger swells the closer to noon it got. I’d strongly suggest morning as it was predicted rain every afternoon.

We had a great time on our trip! We knew the fishing was slow because of a storm the previous days, and the crew was very honest with us about that. Still, we ended up catching three yellowfish tuna. The crew was very nice. Milton and Mario really know what they're doing. Our fish were fileted for us on the boat, and we had some really good sandwiches from the crew. We saw hundreds of dolphins as well! Overall a great day.

We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cheaper fishing charter option in tamarindo - we were looking and this was one of the best priced guides for this location. And it was sooooo worth the price. We caught a 150 pound nursing shark and fought it for an hour and a half. We also got 1 tuna for dinner! We got the 4 hour trip

We were two dads with two kids (ages 11 and 10). We had a fabulous day. Daniel and his crew mate were great with the kids, tried lots of different spots and techniques, and we caught around 20+ fish - mackerel tuna, grouper and skip jacks. Booked the “Salsa” for two days - Monday and Wednesday. Captain Jose and crew mate Cesar were very welcoming and informative about Costa Rican fishing. Caught multiple Yellowfin Tuna and a big Mahi Mahi, with plenty of drinks, snacks, food, and laughs. I highly recommend fishing with coyote when you come down to Tamarindo or nearby towns.

Went on a half day AM fishing charter in March 2024. Communication with company was great. Captain Novel was very accommodating for our group. We all caught fish and my 85 year old father reeled in a 18kg Dorado. After a couple hours fishing we went snorkeling and saw dolphins and turtles. Would definitely go with this company again.

Our Captain, Gerard was a great leader who knew everything about fishing in the area and was very friendly. Even though the fish weren’t biting we still managed to catch a great Mahi Mahi, which made my 12 year old sons day. Louise who was the organizer was very responsive and pleasant. We had a great time.
