A Watsons Bay fishing trip offers up plenty of fun for both skilled and novice anglers alike. Watsons Bay is at the end of Sydney Harbour’s South Head peninsula. To the east you’ll find the Tasman Sea and its incredible offshore fishing opportunities. Head west instead and you can fish Sydney Harbour for nearshore species. 

Watsons Bay is a great spot to start your trip from if you want to head offshore, as you’ll spend less time traveling to the fishing grounds. Depending on the time of year, targeted species can include Marlin (Striped, Blue, and Black), Tuna (Yellowfin, Bluefin, and Albacore), Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Sharks, and more. You’ll head a maximum of 30 miles offshore to the continental shelf and will be trolling and drifting for big game.

Anglers with less experience can fish inside the Harbour instead for Pink Snapper, Bream, Flathead, Tailor, Australian Snapper, and plenty more. Watsons Bay gives anglers plenty of options when it comes to where and what they can cast off for. Just choose your destination and get ready to fish on!
