1 for 2 on Blue Marlin yesterday, 3 nice sized Dorados & unlucky on the Sailfish, lost 1 mid fight & missed a couple of lazy eaters but we ALWAYS have a great time aboard the GOOD DAY. Excellent to have Brad from Dallas & Father in law Bob joining us. Both of the guys had a blast catching Dorado & then 70 year old Bob was hooked up to the 1st Billfish of his life, a nice sized Sailfish, only for the hook to pull mid fight. All hell then broke lose when Brad hooked up to an est. 200lb Blue Marlin, the fish took a ton of line & put on some incredible jumps before finally throwing the hook. All went quiet and then in the final half hour of the day, 30 miles Offshore & in 3200 feet of water, the unmistakable Bill of a Marlin appeared behind our favourite Pink Hawiaan Lure. The hookup went perfectly, the Reel screamed and the fish took a lot of line but never jumped so we had no idea how big it was. 10 minutes quickly turned into 20 minutes, 30 minutes turned into 40 minutes. The sun was low in the sky & with the fish fighting deep we needed to put some more heat on it to try and get him up before the sun went down. Always a nervous time when you increase the drag pressure as you know the line could pop at any moment! Brad fought the fish excellently, conserving his energy at the same time & finally managed to get the fish up after about 50 minutes. We had solid wraps on the leader & a good visual on a stunning Blue Marlin in the **hidden content**lb Range before he threw the hook just a couple of feet under the surface. So no trophy photo for you today but we got the release & Brad, the memory of a life time which is what it is all about! Epic day with a couple of top guys!
