After a lifetime of fishing the Keys with my uncle, 50-year veteran Capt. Vic Gaspeny, and others, I followed my passion and made Islamorada my full-time home in 2015.
I've been backcountry guiding out of Bud n’ Mary’s Marina ever since and remain enthralled with the variety and consistency of our fishery and the beauty and wildlife of local waters and the Florida Everglades.
Species like Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Goliath Grouper, Bonefish, Lemon Shark, Hammerhead Shark, Tripletail, Permit, and more could be biting, depending on the season. Specializing in: Night Time Fishing any Species! Live-bait and artificial fishing the shallows of Florida Bay and the Everglades
Light-tackle big game fishing for Tarpon, Sharks, Grouper, from the Keys to the deep backcountry.
Multi-species action and variety fishing local channels and nearshore reefs/wrecks
Evening and nighttime fishing for Tarpon, Snook, and more with fly and bait gear
You'll be welcome aboard a 20' Young bay boat with space for 3 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
Don't forget to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Now's the time to experience fishing in Islamorada for yourself, with Capt. Max Gaspeny!
