Four of us gentlemen embarked on an unforgettable half-day fishing adventure aboard the Papa Smurf with Captain Anthony and First Mate “Magic” Mike.

Our hosts were a couple of very skilled and passionate anglers with a deep understanding of the local waters. Their expertise navigating the boat and ability to read the water were truly impressive.

The highlight of the trip was landing a 45 pound Wahoo.

Captain Anthony and Magic Mike are exceptional hosts. They are friendly and welcoming always willing to go the extra mile making sure we had everything we needed.

A travel influencer said it would be hard pressed to find a local fishermen willing to take my son and I out. Papa Smurf (Anthony) was as close to this experience as I think you can get. Anthony and Mike taught us how to ocean fish, every fish pulled in was named, and they gave us cooking recommendations. Papa even gave us a contact to have our fish cooked! Fishing booker and the website/emails say license and cleaning are not included but Anthony and his first mate took care of EVERYTHING!! Highly recommended and hope to schedule a deep sea fishing charter. I can’t say enough good about Papa Smurf and the experience.

My husband and I booked a bottom fishing trip with Anthony aka Papa Smurf and Magic Mike!  These guys took us to several spots and we caught a wide variety of fish!  They are both so friendly and will ensure you have a great time!  We had a lot of laughter too!  These guys will put bait on your line the entire trip, and will filet the fish you want to keep!  We decided to book with Papa Smurf because of all the wonderful reviews he already had online and this trip did not disappoint at all!  We had an amazing time and you will not go wrong by going out with them if you decide on a fishing trip while on the island!  Thank you both for such a great time and for blessing us with your kindness!  Hope to see you all again!

Our family of 5 with my wife, our son (10), and daughter (7) and mother-in-law had an amazing time with Anthony and Mike at Papa Smurf Charters.  Anthony and Mike have been working together for +20 years and once your line hits the water it’s clear they know exactly what they are doing.  We stoped in 3 different locations during our half day bottom fishing trip and caught a large number of fish at each location.  Our catch included trigger fish, strawberry groupers, butterfish, parrot fish, red snapper, yellow snapper, along with a barracuda and a few eels (which is just part of the ocean fishing). 

We all had a good time, and we sincerely appreciate how they were focused on ensuring our kids had an amazing time.  Our daughter caught the most fish under Anthony’s watchful eye, and Mike was always ready to put more bait on the line while keeping a watch on our lines to see if our bait had been taken without us noticing. 

After the trip Mike cleaned our fish, and Anthony was kind enough to show us to his friend Johnny B’s restaurant who was able to prepare some of our catch both grilled and fried.  It was delicious! 

We would highly recommend Papa Smurf Charter to anyone who is looking for a family friendly or even an advanced fishing charter.  Anthony and Mike will be sure to ensure you have a great time.

Captain Anthony and first mate Mike did a great job making sure we enjoyed our day. The seas were a little lumpy but the boat is solid and quite stable for a 28 foot center console. Caught grouper, trigger fish, butter fish and snapper. Mike cleaned them and we took enough for 2 meals. Captain Anthony got us connected with Chef Johnny B and they did a great job cooking and serving us our fish. I would highly recommend for bottom fishing and it looked like they were well set up for trolling as well. They even surprised us a bottle of champagne - we were celebrating our 39 anniversary.
