Can’t say enough good things about this charter. He was a random internet search. He asked us what we wanted and our level of experience and tailored the whole time accordingly. He’s an Eagle Scout and can tell you every detail about every animal/fish you see. He’s not just baiting your hook and taking fish off.  He gives a history lesson of the keys as well. His 22’ boat is almost brand new and he won’t take more than four out at a time. Plenty of room. He cleans all the fish (there were plenty) and gives you a bag and you take it to Tonios and they cook it how you like it. (Or you can take it home). I can’t imagine a better four hour fishing charter at this price point. Well worth it and we’ll be back to see Capt Hoyt.

My wife and I would like to express our gratitude towards the captain for taking care of us patiently throughout the trip. Although it was our first time fishing in the open waters, we had a great time, even though we were unable to catch the big fish we were hoping for. The captain’s background as a tour guide was a big plus, as he provided us with a brief history of Key West and was happy to answer our questions. Overall, it was an engaging experience and we couldn’t have asked for anything better.

My wife and I were recommended Hoyt by someone we know back home who fishes often. We are novices on the ocean. Captain Hoyt was at the dock when we arrived and came to us to greet us. Windy conditions were expected and we were a little nervous about going out. Hoyt explained everything about the area in a way that made us feel very comfortable about heading out. We did structure fishing around the bridge nearby. Along the way he gave us history lessons of the bridges and the nature all around the area and the keys in general. He took the time got us all set up with the bait to give us a fun filled fishing trip. We caught lots of fish (my wife caught the most) and Hoyt filleted them for us to bring to any restaurants on the keys to cook up for you. Next time we are back we will book with Captain Hoyt.

Our 4 hour fishing trip with Captain Hoyt was by far the highlight of our families trip to the keys! We booked the 4 hour morning trip and our overall goal was to take our two kids (8 and 9 years old) out to catch some fish and be on the water. This trip and Captain Hoyt exceeded all of our expectations!!! Captain Hoyt is extremely knowledgeable with a wealth of knowledge about fishing, fish/wildlife and the Keys. He was WONDERFUL with our kids.  Explained and taught them about fishing and the different types of fish. Very patient and engaging with them. The trip usually involves going to a few different places to fish however we were catching so many fish we didn’t leave from the first place!!!!!  We caught four different types of snappers and we lost count of how many….over 50 I believe?!?  We mostly caught and released as we had a long drive home…but we did keep 6 to enjoy for lunch. After fishing Captain Hoyt cleaned/filleted all the fish (which the kids enjoyed watching) and we went to the restaurant right by the dock (Tonio’s) and they cooked it for us! Had a wonderful lunch! (Which I would also recommend doing)

Captain Joseph was amazing. He taught us how to fish along with very interesting geography and history lessons about Key West and the ocean. Very patient and engaging with kids. When the little hands were tired of fishing (and we had caught plenty for lunch) he drove the boat to picnic island for us to swim and play around the sandbars. All in all an amazing trip and very well priced too.
