My son and I spent an amazing day on the water yesterday on a 6 hour trip; it was easily more like 7 or even 7 1/2 hours of the most fun I’ve had on a fishing trip.  We spent the first bulk of time fishing for sheepheads closer in shore by design. It was so much fun as a novice learning how to catch these hard to catch these fish with special teeth. He taught us how to let it hit bottom, close the reel, take out the slack, and feel for a subtle nibble with the rod tip low to the water. If it happened we pulled the rod up an inch to check if the rod bent more, then started reeling. After catching a bunch of those, an eel, and a nice grouper, we decided to spend the next bit of time in deeper waters fishing for something bigger. I thought he was lying when he said, “when it hits the bottom, close the reel,  reel it one revolution, and wait. You should feel a tug within five seconds- then reel hard.” That happened immediately for my son and I, and we started catching snapper. We each hooked several bigger fish on heavier rods out deeper, but lost them to sharks or line by breaking off the bottom. Also learned how to jigfish.

Ricky knows so much about fish and fishing, and it seemed like people were following him to find the fish bc we kept catchung stuff. He and his mate Chris were so much fun to joke around with, and we had fun the whole time.

I would book a trip again with Captain Ricky Alford in a heartbeat. Favorite trip. We might have had even more luck going after bigger fish had we not gone during a sailfish tournament when the price of goggleeye baitfish doubles ($200 or more) and I didnt want to pay that to the bait salesman. But any money spent with Ricky was well spent.

Had a great time with Ricky. Went out on a morning trip looking to put fish in the boat for dinner and he did not disappoint. Pulled up the first spot and started catching. We brought home plenty for two meals and were kept busy the whole time. Never a down time not getting bites. Enjoyed the time on the water!

Fantastic trip, caught fish all day.  Ricky was super knowledgeable and amazing with our kids.  Gave us a great restaurant recommendation to cook our catch and he was spot on!  Would HIGHLY recommend him.

Captain Ricky made our first deep sea fishing experience a fantastic memory for the entire family!  He was very accommodating to the children and made sure everyone caught something.  I highly recommend Captain Ricky!

Ricky and Chad were amazing.  My boyfriend and I had a great time and caught a lot of fish (amberjack, yellow jack, mahi & snapper). Highly highly recommend doing a full day of fishing with the full 8 hours.
