We had a fantastic day on the May Marie, mostly due to our skippers. Kerry and Trent are incredibly experienced and taught us heaps as well as running around after the five of us, baiting hooks, taking fish off and then expertly filleting them for us at the end of the day. Apart from brilliant skippers, the boat was well set up, they had all the best fishing gear and we felt we had a really authentic kiwi fishing experience. We’re NZers from the South Island and we fish a lot and we would’ve been disappointed if we’d had a glossy, polished ‘tour’ aimed at international tourists…we thought our day on the May Marie with our fantastic skippers was the real deal.

Absolutely appreciate both Jas and Trent working so hard on our charter to try to make our experience the best.
Unfortunately the fishing gods weren’t shining on us. This is despite Jas doing everything in his vast experience to catch fish.
Jas and Trent were knowledgeable, welcoming, super efficient and a bloody good laugh.

Absolutely legendary and amazing crew Trent and Jeff. Myself and my 9 year old son had an absolute blast on board the May Marie. The crew was patient with my son and really helpful with showing us techniques etc. We caught many different species of fishes. They were very knowledgeable with fishing location and bait to use and extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommended and we will definitely be jumping on the May Marie charter again.

Fantastic fishing trip! Super knowledgeable crew, friendly and experienced. Our 5 hour afternoon excursion turned into six at no extra cost, simply down to the skippers passion and wanting us to get the most out of our experience. We fished for live bait then stopped at three different spots for the big fish. The team couldn’t have been more helpful, baiting up, helping with lines, reeling up the ones we couldn’t manage… we caught pink mau mau, snapper among others. All the filleting was done on the way in and lots of fish to take home. Couldn’t rate skipper and crew more highly. Thanks for a brilliant day guys!

Great service from Trent (Skipper) and Kerry (deckhand). Almost like ‘glamping’ fishing. They were just ‘there’ to rebait the hook whenever necessary. And, of course, deal with the gear and cleaning/fileting of the fish. Thanks guys!
