They took my family out in tough winds, cold temperatures and rainy conditions and we still prevailed with monstrous catches. We ended up landing a 50lb black drum, used a tag for a slot red and caught various others. The captain was very professional and let our family be ourselves. We were comfortable as we fished. This would be an ideal charter for any family looking to relax, fish and have a great time!

We had a great time! Caught our limit and kept reeling them in, had to release the rest so we didn’t waste them. Captain and first mate knew where to go, and always kept bait on the line even when I kept losing them. They also recommended a place to go and have our catch cooked. Fantastic! We will definitely book with them again if we are in the area.

Overall besides the weather being a factor we had an amazing experience the crew was absolutely amazing really helpful, friendly, and can laugh with you, we didn’t catch much but that’s alright we went to 3 spots in total and we all had small bites I’ll fish with salty rods again for sure possibly for an 8 hour trip in the future hopefully the weather will be better next time I appreciate salty rods charters and I’ll be seeing them again really soon tight lines guys

Our trip was delayed for 3 hours because of heavy storms and lightening but Salty Rods were so gracious and willing to wait the storms out to get us out on the water. During the time we were waiting, the owners Bubba and Cheryl were incredible. Bubba was helping my kids fish off the pier and treating us like we were already on the charter. Cheryl was fast to respond throughout the entire booking process and answered all my questions. She was so sweet and helpful and kept me updated the day before our trip about the storms so we knew what to expect. Once the storms passed and we were able to get out on the water, we had a great time! The Captain, Bradley was amazing! He was so knowledgeable about fishing spots, different kinds of fish we caught, pointed out different interesting ships and wrecks, all kids of things. He taught us so much! The deckhand Keith was awesome as well! He was also able to answer questions and teach us about different things. They were both laid back, fun to hang out with, and great with our kids! They made it such an enjoyable trip! They kept a fishing pole in our hands and bait on the hooks the whole time and we caught a big variety of fish! We will definitely go back!

Captain Jay is the best Captains I’ve been out with. My wife, brother-in-law, daughter, nephew, and I went out and all had a blast.  Captain Jay gave us all an experience we’ve never had.  Got some great footage of a shark breaching out of the water. I wish he wasn’t booked up that next day because I was ready to pay on the spot for a trip that next morning with him.  My next trip to Galveston will definitely include fishing time with Captain Jay.  I will also say, as a former Navy Sailor, that his order of safety, and priorities are in the perfect order, and I’d trust him to insure safety of small kids at sea. You’re making a mistake by not going ahead and booking with him.
