Today we headed down the coast, starting at a pier near our resort. We trolled along the way, why not have 4 baits in the water if you are going anyhow. We did spot a school of jacks which we trolled through and flipped lures at but no luck. We continued on to the snorkeling spot which didn’t have any reef but had plenty of beautiful fish (nothing like Honduras though). We the headed to Quimixto, a tiny village, and hiked to an amazing waterfall and swam in its pool. We wanted to revisited Yelapa, since we loved it in 2008, the town was vastly larger and the waterfall was dry, like the guide had warned us; I will remember the town as it once was. A good day overall for the family, if you want to catch fish you need to go out at least to the island at the mouth of the bay.

These guys are fishermen! They call it fishing not catching, these guys put in the effort to get me my trophy 90lb Yellowfin. We ran out 80 miles and got on a nice fish within 30 minutes on spot. We continued in the 2-3’ chop all day never giving up on finding the school. We ended up staying out an extra two hours and still hadn’t found the tuna but on the way in they spotted spinning dolphin and without even asking they headed to them along with another vessel. We both were chasing the school and after several failed attempts the other vessel left but we stayed and hooked into this monster. 25 minutes later it was in the boat and we were all high-fiving! They even wanted to stay and try to get another but the sun was quickly setting and the family was ready to call it a day, honestly I would’ve needed help to get another one in. I have been fishing all over the Americas and this is exactly what I hope for in a crew and is why I only use FishingBooker to book my guides. Super happy with the outcome today and look forward to my inshore trip tomorrow with the same crew.

Captain Jorge knows the area well. We caught Bonita right away and then things slowed down a bit.  We fished in March and water was still a bit cooler for other species to come into the bay.  The boat was clean and nice.  We booked the 6 hr trip.  They anticipate catching fish and cooking them at a restaurant in Los Animas.  They grilled, fried, and made ceviche at one of the local restaurants in Los Animas.  We caught Bonita, Mackerel, Blue Striped Jack. A good trip for sure!  On the way back if the water is clear they’ll stop at los arcos and let you snorkel for a bit.  Water clarity wasn’t good and fairly choppy, so we passed. We booked an 8 hour day and had a fantastic time!  In the first hour and a half, we caught more than 50 lbs of albacore tuna and we saw a whale!  After that we went closer to land and caught more fish and snorkled.  We stopped at Quimixto and a restaurant cooked our fish for us.  There’s also a restaurant in Las Animas that will do that, but we had just eaten there the day before and wanted to try somewhere else.  While we were at the beach eating lunch, the guys fileted all our fish and bagged it for us!

The boat itself is very comfortable and I loved laying in the sun while my husband and kids fished.  There’s a small toilet to use as well.  I did get a little seasick when we were an hour out from land and sitting there fishing.  When we were moving or closer to land I felt fine.

We met them at Los Muertos pier in the morning and they dropped us off on the beach at our condo in the afternoon.  It was amazing to not have to travel back at the end of the day!!

This day was probably our favorite of the whole trip.  Definitely money well spent!!

My boyfriend and I booked an 8-hour trip with Jorge and Jesus and had such an amazing day. For starters, we caught 9 Mahi Mahi throughout the trip which Jorge and Jesus worked tirelessly to land for us (we were hoping to catch a Marlin as well but no luck this time). Not only did we have a successful day of fishing but we saw so much marine life including whales, dolphins and sea turtles. Jorge and Jesus also gave us the option to have the fish cooked and/or the biggest Mahi Mahi taxidermized (extra cost of course). You will not regret booking with this charter, gracias por todos! :)
